Kami-gun, located in the mid-west of Miyagi Prefecture, in the upper reaches of the Naruse River. Known as a horse-breeding area, in recent years it has been involved in dairy farming, rice farming, and field crops. Formerly an important transportation location along the Nakauzen Highway. Yutori Swamp, on the border with the former Miyazaki Town, is a habitat for iron fish (a natural monument). 宮城県中西部,鳴瀬川上流部を占める加美(かみ)郡の旧町。馬産地として知られたが,近年は酪農,米作,畑作を行う。中羽前(なかうぜん)街道に沿うかつての交通要地。旧宮崎町との境にある魚取(ゆとり)沼はテツギョ生息地(天然記念物)。2003年4月,中新田町,宮崎町と合併して加美町となる。221.61km2。8092人(2000)。
