A rakugo performer and a storyteller. Born in Asakusa, Tokyo. His real name was Hattori Tatsujiro. At the age of 12, he became an apprentice to Naniwatei Komakichi, the founder of Kanto Naniwabushi, and was given the name Komako. Although he was a junior apprentice, he was expected to have a bright future. However, in 1903 (Meiji 36), he gave up Naniwatei and became independent under the name Isshintei Tatsuo. He was praised for "the voice of Tatsuo, who has the best voice in the Naramaru tanka of the verse, is Kumoemon." In his later years, he was no longer able to raise his voice in the verse, so in 1935 (Showa 10), he switched to storytelling and took the name Hattori Shin. He was active at the forefront of the entertainment world until his death at the age of 94.
