ṣaḍ-aṅga (English spelling) sadanga

...The techniques of mural painting are described in ancient Roman authors such as Vitruvius and Pliny the Elder, in the Middle Ages by Theophilus and the Mount Athos Technique Book, which conveyed the techniques of Byzantine mural painting, but Cennini's Book of Art, written in the early 15th century, is particularly well known. In India, the Shad-Angaṣaḍ-aṅga (Six Laws of Painting) and other technical theories have been passed down since ancient times, and traditional mural techniques are known to a certain extent. The distinctive feature of mural painting as a form of painting is that, unlike tableaux, hangings, and manuscript paintings, it is an immovable painting that decorates architectural parts.
