Nickname for Ptolemy XV Caesar. The last king of the Ptolemaic dynasty of Egypt. Reigned 44-30 BC. Eldest son of Cleopatra VII. Although there are many dissenting opinions, it is believed that his father was Caesar. In 44 BC, he ascended to the throne jointly with his mother Cleopatra, and in 34 BC he was called "King of Kings." He was used as a tool in the struggle for legitimacy with Caesar's adopted son and successor Octavian (Augustus), and was killed by Octavian's orders after his mother's death. [Hasegawa Hirotaka]

プトレマイオス15世･カエサルの愛称。プトレマイオス朝エジプト最後の王。在位，前44‐前30年。クレオパトラ7世の長男。異論も多いが，父はカエサルといわれている。前44年，母クレオパトラと共同で王位につき，前34年〈諸王の王〉と称された。カエサルの養子で後継者であるオクタウィアヌス(アウグストゥス)との正統性に関する抗争の道具にされ，母の死後，オクタウィアヌスの命令で殺された。【長谷川博隆】
