This is free software that allows you to share files and printers from Windows on UNIX. It supports SMB (Server Message Block), a protocol used in Windows, and can participate in Windows networks. On Mac OS X, Samba is used to share files with Windows. It is also often used as server software on multi-platform NAS. UNIXでWindowsのファイル共有やプリンター共有が利用できるフリーソフトウェア。Windowsで使用されているプロトコルであるSMB（Server Message Block）をサポートし、Windowsのネットワークに参加できる。Mac OS Xでは、Sambaを利用して、Windowsとのファイル共有を実現している。また、マルチプラットフォームに対応したNASでサーバー・ソフトとして利用されることが多い。
