A town in Wake District in the southeastern part of Okayama Prefecture. Wake is located at the confluence of the Yoshii River and the Kongo River, a tributary of the Yoshii River, and the Sanyo Main Line station settlement (formerly Honjo Town) is located in the center. Wake was a post station and river port on the Sanyo Road. It once produced Hikasa paper, a type of washi paper used for Japanese umbrellas. Wake Shrine is located here.
