A term used in paleography. In documents that resemble a writing slip, this refers to additional text written after the main text has been completed. It is called tsuisho because it usually begins with tsuisho. Some were written after the main text, i.e. on the thank-paper, but looking at examples from the Nanboku-cho period onwards, postscripts beginning with tsuisho, tsuisho, or tsuisho were written on a separate sheet of paper from the main paper and thank-paper, and are found in many official documents such as imperial edicts, imperial decrees, and imperial edicts, and are relatively concise in their writing. In contrast, private letters are usually written in the margins of the main paper and begin with shoujo or henjo. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
