Burg bei Magdeburg

A city in the northeast of Saxony-Anhalt, northeast Germany. From 1949 to 1990 it was part of the former East Germany. Located at the northwest foot of the Flaming Hills, which are made up of moraine, it developed as the first outpost of the Archbishop of Magdeburg. Population 23,000 (2000). In addition to the textile industry run by refugees from France and other countries, the city is home to industries in food, leather, furniture, iron, machinery, steel rolling, tinplate, special steel, alloys, and stainless steel.

ドイツ北東部、ザクセン・アンハルト州北東の都市。1949～90年は旧東ドイツに属した。モレーン（氷堆石(ひょうたいせき)）で構成されたフレーミング丘陵北西麓(ろく)に位置し、マクデブルク大司教の第一の出城として発達した。人口2万3000（2000）。フランスなどからの難民による織物工業のほか、食品、皮革、家具、鉄、機械、鋼圧延、ブリキ、特殊鋼、合金、ステンレス鋼の各工業が立地している。
