Kabuki dance drama. Kiyomoto. The original title was "The Flower Bride of the Journey." Lyrics by Misuya Nisoji. Music by Kiyomoto Eijiro I. It was first performed in March 1833 (Tenpo 4) at the Kawarasakiza in Edo as a scene from "Uraomote Chushingura" by Hayano Kanpei of Ichikawa Danjūrō 7th and Okaru of Onoe Kikugorō 3rd. The third act "Uramon" from "Kanadehon Chushingura" was moved to the mountains of Totsuka and turned into a gorgeous dance. Its nickname comes from the opening line of the Kiyomoto, "Do even the fugitives see the young grass in the fields?" Because of its excellent music and choreography, it became a huge hit, and is often used in place of the original "Uramon" in full performances of "Chushingura."
