The main types of ornaments that are well known today are the "trill" and "mordent," which divide a sound of a certain length into smaller parts and vibrate between adjacent sounds, the "turn," which orbits a sound and decorates it (Figures 2 and 3), the "appoggiatura" and "Schleifer," which emphasize a sound by adding a non-harmonic sound in front of it, and combinations of these (Figures 4 and 5).
