Recently, even in Europe and the United States, seaweed has come to be called a sea vegetable, and there is a trend to reconsider it as a health food. The main edible algae include the red algae Asakusa-nori, the brown algae Mozuku, Kombu, Wakame, and Hijiki, and the green algae Hitoegusa and Aonori.
