Fujiwara no Yoshimi - Fujiwara no Yoshimi

Japanese:
Fujiwara no Yoshimi - Fujiwara no Yoshimi
Year of death: 10th October 9th of the Jogan period (9th November 867)
Year of birth: 813
An official in the early Heian period. Son of Fuyutsugu and Naishi Mitsuko (daughter of Fujiwara no Masasaku). He experienced the Jowa Incident (842), served as a councilor, and was made Minister of the Right in 857. During the Otenmon Incident (866), according to the Daikyo-urasho, Yoshiaki conspired with Tomo no Yoshio to frame the Minister of the Left, Minamoto no Shin, but the truth of the incident is unknown. However, after Yoshio was exiled, he repeatedly petitioned to enter the Buddhist priesthood, likely because he wished to leave the political world. He was bold and eloquent, but was also said to have had a deep faith, and built Sushin-in Temple on his estate to house the children of his family who could not support themselves, and Enmei-in Temple as a relief facility for the sick. He did not remarry because his wife (the daughter of Sagami Gonjo Oeda Otoe) had passed away, and instead devoted himself to offering prayers for her. His daughters, Takakiko and Tamiko, became consorts with Emperor Montoku and Emperor Seiwa, respectively.
