An ancient Egyptian city located in the western part of the Nile Delta. Today it is called Saerhagar. It has been the center of Lower Egypt since the establishment of the dynasty, and in the 8th century BC Tefnakht founded the 24th Dynasty here as its center. Later, Necho I became king and ruled here, founding the 26th Dynasty (Saicid dynasty), and his son Psamtik I made it his capital. Remains of the temple walls remain, and bronze statues of gods have also been excavated.
