A tragedy by Shakespeare. The original title is Othello, the Moor of Venice, with the subtitle The Moor of Venice. Five acts. It is believed to have first been performed in 1604. Othello, a Moorish general of Venice, falls into a trap set by the wicked minister Iago, who suspects the fidelity of his beloved wife Desdemona and kills her, but when the truth is revealed, he commits suicide. Othello's impulsiveness, Iago's cunning, and Desdemona's innocence are simplified, making this the clearest structure of the four great tragedies. There is also an opera by Verdi called Otello. → Related article Otojiro Kawakami | Famagusta Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
