Among them, Villa Almerico (commonly known as the Rotonda after 1567) on the outskirts of Vicenza, with its square plan, rotunda with a dome in the center, and the same Greek temple-like porches on all four sides, was repeatedly imitated up until modern times as the pinnacle of classical beauty. However, his methods often deviated from the Vitruvian norm, and in addition to the use of this temple-like porch motif, he often used stylized motifs such as the Serliana (or Palladian motif), which has columns and beams on both sides of the arch used in the Basilica, and the semicircular comb-shaped bath window (a window used in ancient baths), as symbolic elements that are free from classical constraints.
