sgra snyan (English spelling) sgrasnyan

...a plucked string instrument of the lute family used by the Tibetan people in Tibet and neighboring areas of Nepal, Bhutan, Sikkim, and China (illustration). It is correctly called dhanyen (sgra snyan), and damnyen (dram snyan) is an inaccurate phonetic spelling. In China it is called chayamunie (chamounie) or six-stringed qin (rokuxianqin).
