Simhala (Dynasty) (English spelling)

...Population: 35,981 (1981). It was the capital of the ancient Sinhala dynasty and flourished as a royal city for about 1,300 years from the 4th century BC. The Chinese monk Faxian, who visited the city in the 5th century, recorded the prosperity of the city and the power of its Buddhist temples in his travelogue, Faxian Biography.
