Japanese: ロッキード･マーティン[会社]（英語表記）Lockheed Martin Corp.

A major American defense contractor. Its main business is the production of strategic weapons such as large military transport planes, anti-submarine patrol planes, reconnaissance planes, and missiles. Its head office is in Bethesda, Maryland. It was founded in California in 1932 as Lockheed Aircraft Corp. In 1977, it changed its name to Lockheed Corp. In 1995, it merged with Martin Marietta Corp., another aviation and defense contractor, and changed its name to its current one. In the 1970s, it entered the civilian transport aircraft market with the L1011 TriStar, but by the end of 1981, it had ceased production of civilian aircraft due to unprofitability.

アメリカの大手軍需企業。大型軍用輸送機，対潜哨戒機，偵察機，ミサイルなどの戦略兵器の生産を主要な事業とする。本社メリーランド州ベセスダ。1932年，Lockheed Aircraft Corp.としてカリフォルニア州に設立。77年ロッキード社Lockheed Corp.に変更した。95年同じ航空･軍需企業のマーティン･マリエッタ社MartinMariettaCorp.と合併，現社名に変更した。1970年代に入り，L1011トライスターで民間輸送機市場にも参入したが，81年末には採算割れを理由に民間機の製造を中止した。
