Tracery (English spelling)

Japanese: トレーサリー(英語表記)tracery
Tracery (English spelling)
Architectural term. A geometric pattern decoration seen in the lighting areas of medieval Europe, especially Gothic architecture. It is broadly divided into two types: plate tracery, in which patterns are carved into stone slabs, and bar tracery, in which patterns are created by combining straight or curved stone pieces, and the patterns gradually became more complex. In a broader sense, it also includes the delicate openwork lattices seen in lighting areas of Islamic architecture.
