Indische Vereeniging (English spelling)

…An organization of Indonesian students who engaged in anti-colonial political activities in the Netherlands from 1923 to the end of the 1930s. Its predecessor was the East India Society (Indische Vereeniging), founded in 1908, which was a kind of social organization, but it gradually became more political when Suwardi Suryaningrat and Cipto Mangunkusumo arrived in the Netherlands in 1913 and joined the organization. In 1917, it joined a federation made up mainly of Dutch youth who would one day find employment in the Dutch East Indies, but withdrew in 1919 due to differences in position, and in January 1923, the East India Society was renamed the Indonesian Society. …
