artificial man

...Historically, it referred to something that has a human-like appearance and can perform the same tasks as humans using machines or electric devices. The robots that appear in manga, animation, and science fiction are examples of this term. Because they are artificially created, they are also called artificial men, and because they resemble humans, they are called androids or humanoids. Cyborgs, which are a combination of organic matter and machines, can also be considered robots in the broad sense, and mechanical dolls (automata) can also be considered precursors to robots.
