Somoza Debayle, A.

He was assassinated in 1956. His son, Luis Somoza Debayle (1922-1967), became president in 1957, and after stepping down in 1963, he continued to control the country's politics and economy by appointing friends of the Somoza family to the presidency one after another. After his death, his brother, Anastasio Somoza Debayle (1925-1980), became president and was re-elected in 1974.
