A document that conceptually describes the arrangement and organization of an army for battle. It was created from the time of Toyotomi Hideyoshi through the Edo period. It is often written in the order of marching, organized so that it can move to battle (encounter combat) at any time. Depending on the total size of the force, the independent fighting units, Te, are arranged in such places as the vanguard (preparatory force), main force, and rear force (reservoir), and the generals and numbers of the reserves and Te are diagrammatically recorded. 戦いのために軍隊の配置や編成を概念的に記した文書。豊臣秀吉のころから江戸時代にかけて作成された。いつでも合戦(遭遇戦)に移行できるよう編成された陣押(行軍)の順に書かれていることが多い。総勢の規模にもよるが,独立した戦闘単位である手を先陣(先備),本陣,後陣(後備)などに配置し,備や手の大将と人数などを図式的に記している。【高木 昭作】
