Worpswede (English spelling)
A village in Lower Saxony, northern Germany, located about 15 km northeast of Bremen. It was founded in 1889 when two painters, Fritz Mackensen and Otto Modersohn, moved there and began their artistic endeavors, and many painters gathered there. Even today, there are many artist studios, galleries and art museums.
