Jin Ming Dynasty
1600-? A painter of the Joseon Dynasty.
Born in the 33rd year of King Seonjo's reign. A painter at the Drawing Office. He painted landscapes and figures with a free-spirited brushwork. He visited Japan twice, in 1636 and 1647, as an attendant on the Korean missions, and became well-known in Japan. His pen name was Tenno. His pen names included Rentan and Suio. His given name was either Myokoku or Myokoku. His works include Viewing a Waterfall and Daruma.

宣祖33年生まれ。図画(とが)署の画員。奔放な筆致で山水画,人物画をえがく。朝鮮通信使の随員として寛永13年(1636),20年の2度来日し,日本でも名を知られた。字(あざな)は天汝。号は蓮潭,酔翁など。名は命国,鳴国ともかく。作品に「観瀑(かんばく)図」「達磨(だるま)図」など。
