Aleksey Pavlovich Okladnikov

A famous Soviet archaeologist. He energetically pursued research into the Stone Age and Bronze Age throughout Siberia, and his achievements in systematizing chronology, genealogical relationships, and cultural content are immortal. He was born in Siberia and loved it very much. He gained recognition for his research into Brech, a representative Late Paleolithic site in Siberia, and the excavation of Neanderthal bones at Teshuk-Tash. He then focused on research on the Baikal coast and the Amur region, while also making research into Siberian rock paintings his life's work. He has written at least 30 books and 600 papers. He is a member of the Academy of Sciences, and served as director of the Institute of History, Philology and Philosophy at the Siberian branch of the Academy of Sciences.

ソ連の著名な考古学者。ことにシベリア全域の石器時代や青銅器時代の研究を精力的に推し進め、編年、系統関係、文化内容などを体系づけた業績は不滅のものである。シベリアに生まれシベリアをこよなく愛した。シベリアの代表的な後期旧石器時代の遺跡ブレチの調査や、テシュク・タッシュにおけるネアンデルタール人骨の発掘によって評価を得た。その後、バイカル沿岸やアムール地域の調査研究を集中的に成し遂げるかたわら、シベリアの岩壁画研究をライフワークにした。少なくとも著書は30冊、論文は600編を数える。科学アカデミー会員。同シベリア分院歴史・文献・哲学研究所長を務めた。
