...They were merchants and farmers, but they built cities, especially in the German style, which flourished in the 15th and early 16th centuries through East-West trade, such as Sibiu and Brasov. The Saxons became independent of the county system and formed an administrative unit called the Stuhl, which was directly subordinate to the Hungarian king, and established the Saxon Parliament (with administrative, legislative and judicial powers) as the self-governing body for the entire Saxon region. The Stuhl system was also adopted by the Székelys, who formed their own autonomous region (with its center in Tárgu Mureş).
