German painter, printmaker, and metalworker. His real name was Trippenmaker H. Trippenmeker. Born in Paderborn, he was a pupil of Dürer and was greatly influenced by his master. He produced over 450 small copperplate engravings, and holds an important place among the "Kleinemeister, the painters of small objects." With his Italian Mannerist-style elongated human figures and a powerful yet refined style, he mainly worked on portraits, religious and mythological paintings, and genre scenes, but his works with decorative patterns for metalwork as their theme also show his craftsmanship.

ドイツの画家，版画家，金工師。本名トリッペンメーカーH.Trippenmeker。パーダーボルンに生まれ，デューラーの弟子として師からの大きな影響を受けた。450点余の小型の彫刻銅版画を制作し，〈小ものの画家Die Kleinemeister〉の中で重要な位置を占める。イタリア･マニエリスム風の伸びた人体と，力強いが洗練された作風で，主に肖像画，宗教･神話画，風俗画を扱ったが，金工のための装飾文様を主題とした作品には職人的力量がうかがえる。
