...The closely related P. monticola Dougl. (western white pine) is found in western North America. P. lambertiana Dougl. (sugar pine), also native to the west, can reach a height of 70 m and cone lengths of 30-50 cm. P. bungeana Zucc. (lacebark pine), found in Shanxi, Shaanxi and other northern Chinese provinces, has three leaves, smooth bark, and secretes a resin that gives it a bluish-white color.
