Oguninuma

A small caldera lake located 6km west of Mt. Bandai in north-central Fukushima Prefecture. It is surrounded by Mt. Nekomagatake and Mt. Oguni. It has a circumference of about 4km, an area of ​​0.5km2 and a depth of 4.5m. The marshland on the lake shore is home to large colonies of Asian skunk cabbage, day lilies and Iris arvensis, and is a national natural monument. The lake water flows into Lake Hibarako via the Oshizawa River. The Oguni Irrigation Canal, excavated in 1659 (Manji 2), draws water from this marsh and irrigates the Oguni Shinden rice fields on the western foot of Mt. Oguni. A bus can be taken partway from Kitakata City.

福島県中北部、磐梯山(ばんだい)西方6キロメートルにある小カルデラ湖。猫魔(ねこま)ヶ岳、雄国山などに囲まれる。周囲約4キロメートル、面積0.5平方キロメートル、水深4.5メートル。湖岸の湿原にはミズバショウ、ニッコウキスゲ、ヒオウギアヤメなどの大群落があり、国の天然記念物。湖水は雄子沢川(おしざわ)によって桧原湖(ひばらこ)に注ぐ。1659年（万治2）開削の雄国用水はこの沼の水を引き、雄国山西麓(せいろく)の雄国新田を灌漑(かんがい)する。喜多方(きたかた)市から途中までバスが通じる。
