Akita Jounosuke

Commander of the Chin'ei (guard) of Akita Castle in ancient and medieval times. In 780 (Hōki 11), during the reign of Chin'ei Shogun Abe no Iemaro, Dewa no Suke was appointed as castle steward, and he is also called Dewa Jō no Suke. A certificate of appointment for Jō no Suke Taira no Kanetada in 980 (Tengen 3) has been handed down. His nephew Oishigenari also became Jō no Suke, and thereafter the family was called Jō. The Azuma Kagami mistakenly identifies him as the first person to hold the position. In 1218 (Kenpō 6), Adachi Kagemori took up the position, which was passed down by his descendants, and during the Nanboku-chō period, Hamuro Mitsuhisa took up the position. During the Tensho period (1573-1592), Oda Nobutada was also appointed as a shogun. The Ando clan of Akita also called themselves Jonosuke.

古代・中世の秋田城鎮衛(ちんえい)司令官。780年（宝亀11）鎮狄(ちんてき)将軍安倍家麻呂(あべのいえまろ)のとき、出羽介(でわのすけ)を城司と定めたことから始まり、出羽城介などともよぶ。980年（天元3）の城介平兼忠(たいらのかねただ)の任符が伝わる。その甥繁成(おいしげなり)も城介となり、以後城(じょう)氏を称す。『吾妻鏡(あづまかがみ)』は彼を初任者と誤認。1218年（建保6）安達景盛(あだちかげもり)が就任し子孫相承(う)け、南北朝期に葉室光久(はむろのみつひさ)が就任。天正(てんしょう)期（1573～1592）に織田信忠(おだのぶただ)も補任(ぶにん)。秋田安東(あんどう)氏も城介を称した。
