A dense black andesite found in the central Kii Peninsula, northern Shikoku, islands in the Seto Inland Sea, and northern Kyushu (Nikami volcanic chain). Also known as Sanuki rock. It contains little plagioclase, many small phenocrysts of orthopyroxene, and a glassy matrix. It contains garnet as an exotic crystal.
