...It is known as a health resort with mud baths and mineral springs. It was founded as a colony by the Greeks of Miletus in the 6th century BC and was called Theodosia. It was later occupied by the Mongol army in the 13th century, and in 1266 the sovereignty of the town was handed over to Genoese merchants by the Golden Horde.
