…It is 500 km long and 300 km wide, with the highest peak being Mount Emi-Kousi (3,415 m). The inhabitants are the nomadic Toubou (Tou means mountain, Bou means people), also known as the Teda Tou, or Mountain Teda. The “Cave Dwellers” mentioned in the “Histories” by Herodotus of ancient Greece refer to the Teda.
