Theme

The subject is the central subject of a research project, a thesis, or a work of art. It is also the translation of the word "theme" (German Thema, English theme, French thème), which comes from the Greek tithenai, meaning "that which is placed." When a person develops his or her thought, he or she unifies the material he or she has collected from his or her own unique perspective, and the thing that is placed at the center of this unification is the subject.
