Japanese: オカメインコ - おかめいんこ(英語表記)cockatiel
Cockatiel - Okayameiko (English spelling) cockatiel

A bird of the family Psittacidae in the order Psittacidae of the class Aves. It is considered to be an independent subfamily of the cockatiel family, with one genus and one species. It grows in colonies in open grasslands throughout much of inland Australia, and perches in flocks on trees. It is about 32 centimetres long, with a slender tail and wings, and is a fast flyer. It feeds on grass seeds and nests in tree hollows. The male has a yellow face, while the female has a dark face, and the name comes from the large, round, yellow-red mark on its cheek. It is commonly kept as a pet bird.
