Japanese: 石田家住宅 - いしだけじゅうたく
Ishida Family Residence - Ishida Family Residence

[Date of the remains]
The oldest surviving private residence remains is the Hakogi family home (farmhouse, Kobe City), known as Sennen-ya, which is estimated to date from the middle of the Muromachi period, followed by the Furui family home (farmhouse, Shisō District, Hyogo Prefecture), thought to date from the end of the Muromachi period. The oldest private residence remains with a known construction date are the Kuriyama family home (Gojō City, Nara Prefecture), which is a townhouse family home built in 1607 (Keichō 12), and the Ishida family home (Kitakuwada District, Kyoto Prefecture), which is a farmhouse family home built in 1650 (Keian 3). In the second half of the 17th century, the number of private residences with known construction dates increases, and the image of private residences at that time becomes clearer, but there are very few private residence remains from before the first half of the 17th century.

*Some of the terminology used in reference to the Ishida Family House is listed below.
