He initially studied law, but switched to music, and in 1804 he went to Vienna, where he established his reputation with the Singspiel "Jähle und Bethel" (1810). After serving as court conductor in Stuttgart and Donaueschingen, he returned to Vienna in 1822 and served as conductor at the Kärntnertor and the Theater in Josefstadt. He left behind 30 operas, including "Nachtschutz der Granada" (1834), as well as oratorios and three piano concertos. …
