Kovar

...A method of sealing metal in glass, using Kovar, which has almost the same thermal expansion properties as hard glass. Kovar is the brand name for an alloy made of nickel, cobalt, and iron, sold by Westinghouse Electric in the United States. General Electric also sells it under the name Fernico. Wires and tubes made from these alloys can be sealed in or in contact with hard glass, making them a convenient metal material for connecting metal and glass, and are widely used in electronic tube materials, etc.
