Pros Romaious; The Letter to the Romans

Japanese: ローマ人への手紙 - ローマびとへのてがみ(英語表記)Pros Romaious; The Letter to the Romans
Pros Romaious; The Letter to the Romans
One of Paul's letters in the New Testament. Also called the Epistle to the Romans. Probably written around 57, it is one of the most important of Paul's letters, and was a major theological source from Augustine to K. Barth. The Roman Church, to which it was addressed, was not founded by Paul, and Paul is thought to have expressed his views on the gospel to the Church of Rome in order to make Rome the starting point of his mission to Europe. It is in the form of a letter, but is a theological book with a systematic structure under the theme, "The gospel is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. The righteousness of God is revealed in it, from faith to faith" (Chapter 1, 16-17). In the first part (Chapters 1-8), the doctrine of justification by faith is explained using the example of Abraham, stating that "a man is justified by faith and not by works of the law" (Chapter 3, 28). The second part (chapters 9-16) discusses the history of the salvation of Israel, the issue of the salvation of the Gentiles, Christian ethics, and the relationship between those with weak and strong faith. It has also had a significant influence on modern theology through K. Barth's Der Römerbrief (1919).
