A syndrome that shows a specific waveform on the electrocardiogram, reported by three people: American cardiologist L. Wolff, British cardiologist J. Parkinson, and American internist PD White. It is also called WPW syndrome, ventricular preexcitation syndrome, or accessory pathway syndrome. The electrocardiogram shows abnormally short PQ (from P, which indicates atrial excitation, to QRS, which indicates the ventricular excitation process), and a pattern similar to bundle branch block, such as prolonged QRS time. It is considered to be a type of congenital disease. There are no subjective symptoms, and the only symptom is paroxysmal tachycardia, in which the heart beats suddenly faster. However, this usually ends in a short time, and half of the patients do not even experience such attacks, so they are often considered healthy. The syndrome itself is not directly treated.

アメリカの循環器医 L.ウォルフ，イギリスの循環器医 J.パーキンソン，それにアメリカの内科医 P.D.ホワイトの3人によって報告された，心電図が特異的な波形を呈する症候群。 WPW症候群，心室早期興奮症候群あるいは副伝導路症候群ともいう。心電図上の特徴は，PQ (心房の興奮を表わすPから，心室の興奮過程を表わす QRSまで) の異常短縮，QRS時間の延長など脚ブロックに似た図形を示す。一種の先天性疾患とみられている。自覚症状は何もなく，ただ一つの症状は，心臓の拍動が突然速くなる発作性心頻拍症だが，これも多くは短時間で終り，しかも半数はこうした発作も起らないから，健康者とみられることが多い。この症候群自体が直接，治療の対象になることはない。
