Born on March 21, 1669. The eldest son of Ogasawara Sadayoshi. Lord of Matsumoto Castle in Shinano (Nagano Prefecture). In 1582, he accompanied Tokugawa Ieyasu along with his father in the siege of Odawara, and was transferred to Koga in Shimousa (Ibaraki Prefecture) with a fief of 30,000 koku. He participated in the Battle of Sekigahara, and was given an increased fief and transferred to Iida Castle in Shinano. In 1615, he returned to Matsumoto as lord of a domain with a fief of 80,000 koku. He was seriously injured in the Summer Siege of Osaka, and died on May 7, 1617. He was 47 years old.
