This fountain is located in Trevi Square in Rome, the capital of Italy, and is one of Rome's most famous tourist attractions. It was originally built by Augustus, the first emperor of the Roman Empire. The current Baroque-style Trevi Fountain was remodeled in the 18th century to a design by Roman architect Niccolo Salvi and completed in 1762 after his death, and is located in front of Palazzo Poli as part of its facilities. The composition, with the sea god Poseidon in the center and the fertility goddesses Ceres ( Demeter ) and Salus (Hygieia) on either side, was designed by Salvi. There is a legend that if you throw a coin into the fountain backwards, your wish will come true.

イタリアの首都ローマ市街のトレビ広場にある噴水で、ローマの代表的な観光名所の一つ。もともとは、ローマ帝国の初代皇帝アウグストゥスが建設したものである。◇現在のバロック様式のトレビの泉は、18世紀にローマの建築家ニッコロ・サルヴィ（Niccolo Salvi）の設計で改造され、彼の死後の1762年に完成したもので、ポーリ宮殿の施設の一部として宮殿正面にある。中央に海神ポセイドン、左右に豊饒(ほうじょう)の女神ケレス（デメテル）、女神サルース（ヒュギエイア）を配した構図は、サルヴィのデザインである。後ろ向きにコインを泉へ投げ入れると願いが叶う、という言い伝えがある。
