A Buddhist sect that believes in the idea of nembutsu. It is also called the Dainenbutsu sect. Its founder was Ryonin (Hongen Shonin) (1072-1132). At the age of 12, Ryonin climbed Mount Hiei and became a disciple of Ryoga. Later, he retired to Ohara and devoted himself to the true Buddhist path. In the summer of 1117 (Eternal 5), while he was in a state of nembutsu samadhi, he was greeted by the coming of Amida Buddha, and realized the fundamental meaning of Yuzu Nembutsu. The verse he recited at that time was, "One person, all people, one person, one line, all lines, all lines, this is called Tariki Ojo. Ten worlds, one thought, Yuzu Nembutsu, a billion million times, perfect merit." This doctrine is the fundamental doctrine of the Yuzu Nembutsu sect. The teachings of Yuzu Nembutsu are very common, and the merit of one person chanting the Nembutsu becomes the merit of all people, and the merit of all people chanting the Nembutsu again becomes the merit of each person, achieving the merit of a billion million times. This Yuzu Nembutsu of Ryonin spread widely throughout Japan. After Ryonin's death, it was temporarily suspended, but in 1321 (Ganko 1), Homyobo Ryoson revived the sect and greatly promoted Nembutsu, centered around Dainembutsuji Temple in the Hirano area of Osaka. After the Muromachi and Sengoku periods, the Dainenbutsu-ji temple buildings were burned down in the Summer Siege of Osaka in 1615 (Genwa 1), but the main hall was rebuilt by Shunku in 1672 (Kanbun 12). During the Genroku period (1688-1704), Yukan emerged and succeeded the 46th head priest of Dainenbutsu-ji, establishing rules for the sect, establishing a school dormitory, writing the Yuzu Enmonsho and Yuzu Nembutsu Shingesho, establishing the sect's doctrine, and reviving the sect. Thus, Ryonin, Ryoson, and Yukan are called the three founders. The head temple is Dainenbutsu-ji Temple in Hiranokamicho, Hirano Ward, Osaka City.
