...A coelenterate (cnidaria) of the family Scyphomedusa. It gets its name from the cross-shaped umbrella. It is found in central and southern Honshu, and attaches itself to seaweed. Eight arms, each 1-2 cm long, extend from a single cylindrical stalk, and two of the arms are connected to each other to form a cross shape. At the end of each arm is a group of small tentacles, and at the end of the small tentacles is a spherical sucker. The body is usually brown or greenish brown with white spots, but sometimes purple spots are mixed in. ...
