Jawasmi

…Entering the Gulf from the Strait of Hormuz, the United Arab Emirates is located on the Arabian side, and the coastal region was so rampant with Arab pirates that it was called the Pirate Coast. The inhabitants of the area were collectively called Jawasmi, which became another name for pirates, and it was said that "their livelihood was piracy and their pleasure was murder," especially in the coastline about 240 km east to west from Cape Musandam, the northernmost point of the Oman Peninsula.
