Japanese: ティフィナグ文字 - ティフィナグもじ（英語表記）alfabet Tifinagh[フランス]

This is the script used by the Tuareg people who live in the Sahara Desert, and appears in rock paintings and carvings from the "Camel Period" (after 200 BCE). It is derived from the preceding ancient Saharan script, alfabet Saharien Ancien. Differences from ancient Saharan script include the weighting (doubling) of letters by 90-degree or 180-degree turns, and the addition of additional symbols (vertical lines, dots, secondary deformations of the edges of letters). Tifinagh is a so-called bovine plowing script, and writing can start from either the top, bottom, left or right, but most of the rock carvings at Adrar Degiforas start from the bottom up.

サハラ砂漠に住むトゥアレグ族の用いる文字で，〈ラクダの時代〉(前200年以降)の岩面彩画･刻画にあらわれる。先行する古代サハラ文字alfabet Saharien Ancienから派生した。古代サハラ文字とのちがいは，90度の転回，180度の転回による文字の加重(重複)，付属的な記号(鉛直線，点，文字の端の二次的な変形)の付加などである。ティフィナグ文字はいわゆる牛耕式で，上下左右どちらから書き始めてもよいが，アドラール･デジフォラスの岩面刻画には下から上に向かうものが多い。
