…In 1936, Japan sent its national team to the Olympic Games held in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (Germany) for the first time, but this marked the end of prewar international exchange. After Japan was allowed to rejoin the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) in 1951 after the war, it actively promoted international exchange in its ice hockey. Japan participated in the Olympic Games six times in a row, from the Squaw Valley Games in 1960 to the Lake Placid Games in 1980, but after that it was eliminated in the qualifying rounds and participated in the Nagano Games in 1998 as the host country. …
