…In the mid-1960s, psychedelic music emerged on the West Coast of the United States, inspired by the music of John Coltrane. It was combined with rock to become hard rock and progressive rock, and gained immense popularity far surpassing jazz. Until the 1960s, it was said that rhythm and blues was for black people and rock was for white people, and the popular music world was overwhelmingly dominated by white groups. However, when rock guitarist Jimi Hendrix (1942-70) appeared, the black-white distinction in the music world disappeared. However, in the 1960s, black consciousness and the idea that "black is beautiful" permeated the music world, and dance, which originated from black people and did not cross arms, became mainstream, and fusion, which started with Miles Davis's "Bitches Brew," and black contemporary were born. …

…60年代半ば，ジョン･コルトレーンの音楽に刺激されて，アメリカ西海岸ではサイケデリック･ミュージックpsychedelic musicがおこり(サイケデリック)，ロックと結びついてハード･ロックhard rock，プログレッシブ･ロックprogressive rockとなり，ジャズをはるかに凌ぐ絶大な人気を得た。　1960年代まで〈リズム･アンド･ブルースは黒人の，ロックは白人のもの〉といわれ，ポピュラー音楽界は，圧倒的に白人グループの天下であったが，ロック･ギタリスト，ジミ･ヘンドリックスJimi Hendrix(1942‐70)が登場した頃から，音楽界での白黒の区別は消えた。しかし60年代に本格化した黒人の自覚や〈ブラック･イズ･ビューティフル〉という思想が音楽界にも浸透し，ダンスは黒人オリジンの，腕を組まないリズム･ダンスが主流となり，マイルス･デービスの《ビッチェズ･ブリュー》を出発点とするフュージョン，そしてブラック･コンテンポラリーが生まれた。…
