…In the mid-1960s, psychedelic music emerged on the West Coast of the United States, inspired by the music of John Coltrane. It was combined with rock to become hard rock and progressive rock, and gained immense popularity far surpassing jazz. Until the 1960s, it was said that rhythm and blues was for black people and rock was for white people, and the popular music world was overwhelmingly dominated by white groups. However, when rock guitarist Jimi Hendrix (1942-70) appeared, the black-white distinction in the music world disappeared. However, in the 1960s, black consciousness and the idea that "black is beautiful" permeated the music world, and dance, which originated from black people and did not cross arms, became mainstream, and fusion, which started with Miles Davis's "Bitches Brew," and black contemporary were born. …
