A medieval samurai family from Musashi Province. Their original surname was Fujiwara. There is also a theory that they descended from the Yokoyama clan, one of the Seven Clans of Musashi. They originated in Narita, Hara County, Musashi Province (currently Kumagaya City, Saitama Prefecture). From the time of the Narita clan, they worked in cooperation with the Yamanouchi Uesugi clan and were said to be one of the Eight Families of Kanto. In 1489 (Entoku 1), during the time of Narita Chikayasu, they captured the residence of Oshi Daijo, built a new castle there, and two years later moved from Narita to Oshi (currently Gyoda City, Saitama Prefecture). Chikayasu's eldest son, Nagayasu, belonged to Uesugi Norimasa, but later had connections with the Later Hojo clan. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
